Epidemiology is the study of diseases in populations. The three main aims of epidemiology are: to describe disease patterns in human populations; to identify the causes of diseases (also known as etiology); to provide data essential for the management, evaluation and planning of services for the prevention, control and treatment of disease. Epidemiology is an integral component of public health practice. This course designed by Faculty of Healthcare Administration, IGMPI is aimed to provide the basis to prevent disease and to promote the health of populations through the study of the occurrence and distribution of health-related states or events, including the study of determinants influencing such states. Upon completion of this course offered by Faculty of Healthcare Administration, IGMPI, individuals will have gained specialized knowledge and skills on the application of epidemiologic concepts and methods to public health problems.

IGMPI follows a credit system based on all learning activities involved in studying for all PG Diploma, Executive Diploma and Certificate Programmes. Each of your modules is equal to 4 credits. To successfully complete the programme, you will have to earn all the credits assigned to your programme.
All the participants are obliged to timely submit completed assessment assignments (during the course, usually after every module) and appear for an online exam at the end of the course. After successful completion, the participants will receive a certificate of Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health Epidemiology as Major, IGMPI. For all the above mentioned modules elaborate course material, self-assessment assignments and project work details would be provided by the Institute from time to time.
