All Pharmaceutical products are formulated to specific dosage forms for drugs to be effectively delivered to patients. Different dosage forms require different pharmaceutical technologies and usually present different technical challenges for formulation development. The objective of this course is to provide fundamentals of formulation studies and how the physiochemical, physiomechanical and biopharmaceutical properties effect the dosage development.

This programme provides professionals with the skills and knowledge to allow them to participate effectively in the creation and growth of high impact pharmaceutical business ventures. Any Indian or overseas applicants must fulfill following criteria for enrolling into the one year Pharmeceutical Formulation and Entrepreneurship program. The applicant must be a graduate in any discipline.

Programme Duration

Minimum duration to complete this program is 1 year and maximum is 2 years.


The registration dates for this bi-annual programme run by the institute are updated timely on the webpage. The Training sessions and webinars are scheduled preferably on weekends depending on the availability of visiting faculty.. Effective E-learning tools incorporated into the design of the webpage make the course lectures, videos and study material easily accessible. This gives huge window of self-regulated and self-paced performance to the participants.

Programme Fees

A one-time fees (lump sum paid at beginning of the course) of Rs 20,000 /- (600 USD for oversees students) is mandatory. This covers for the course registration fees, tuition fees, course material fees etc. Apart from this, an examination fee of Rs 400/- (USD 15) per module needs to be paid later as per the examination notification of the Institute. 10% of fee concession is applicable to applicants belonging to SC/ST, Physically Handicapped (PH), Ex-servicemen or those who belong to Economically Weaker Section (EWS)/ Below Poverty Line (BPL).

Examination & Certification 

All the participants are expected to appear for an online exam and are also obliged to submit assignments after each module. After successful completion, the participants will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Pharmaceutical Formulation and Entrepreneurship. For all the above mentioned modules elaborate course material, self-assessment assignments and project work details would be provided by the Institute from time to time. Besides, it has a robust placement cell comprised of senior level Human Resources professionals and Talent Acquisition experts which maintains close links with business and industry. Future career prospects of Pharmaceutical Formulation and Entrepreneurship

Formulation science is a hands-on career. Formulation chemists are needed not only in the innovator and generic pharmaceutical industries products, but also for all sorts of chemical products including pesticides and insecticides, paints and coatings, foods, adhesives, cosmetics, fragrances, and many household products.

Formulation professionals work in a wide variety of industries. They may divide their time testing new formulations in the lab, writing reports, and helping to set up new production facilities in a pilot plant. After completion of the course professionals will have the necessary skills to start-up new businesses in pharmaceutical formulation or join the pharmaceutical industry's formulation development team.
