India is the 2nd largest producer of tea after China. Tea found in India is sorted into 3 kinds in particular Assam tea (highest cultivation), Darjeeling tea (Superior quality tea) and Nilgiri tea (deligate flavors). India is the largest consumer of tea. , India represents 3/4th household utilization of tea. In 2016, India produced 1,267.36 million kg of tea, for domestic use. India is famous for producing tea of high quality of aroma and flavor all over the world. Goldstein Research analyst predicted that the India tea industry outlook will reach to USD 1 billion by 2025, which is growing at a CAGR of 5.8% over the forecast period (2017-2025).
The Executive Diploma in Tea Technology & Management will provide theoretical and practical knowledge to students to develop their skills in the tea plantation and manufacturing sector. They will gain a deeper understanding of the tea plantation management, tea agronomy, herbarium practices and ethics, tea husbandry, tea tasting, tea marketing, branding, consulting, tea processing, quality assessment, medicinal properties of tea, bio tea, value added tea (green tea, white tea, black tea etc.), their nutritive value and their application methods in tea processing industry.

Graduation in Science/Pharma/Medical/Biomedical/Biotechnology/Microbiology/Food Science & Technology/any Engineering & related disciplines & Candidates appearing for the final year of Bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification exam or awaiting their results, are eligible to apply.
Minimum time in which a student can complete this diploma course in six month while a maximum of one consecutive year is allowed to complete the course.
The registration dates for this bi-annual program run by the institute are updated timely on the webpage. The Training sessions and webinars are strictly scheduled depending on the availability of speakers. Though the recorded lectures are also made available through the IGMPI Learning Management System so the participants are able to listen to them according to their own pace. Effective E-learning tools incorporated into the design of the webpage make the course lectures, videos and study material easily accessible. This gives huge window of self-regulated and self-paced performance to the participants.
IGMPI follows a credit system based on all learning activities involved in studying for all PG Diploma, Executive Diploma and Certificate Programmes. Each of your modules is equal to 4 credits. To successfully complete the programme, you will have to earn all the credits assigned to your programme.
All the participants are obliged to timely submit completed assessment assignments (during the course, usually after every module) and appear for an online exam at the end of the course. After successful completion, the participants will be awarded Executive Diploma in Tea Technology & Management by Faculty of Food Safety and Quality, IGMPI. For all the above mentioned modules elaborate course material, self-assessment assignments and project work details would be provided by the Institute from time to time.
