Compliance with organic food norms by State food safety departments: Directive by FSSAI

All the food business operators must comply with the Organic Food Regulations by 01 April 2019. This compliance will be geared by State food safety authorities as directed by FSSAI, the food regulator of country.The limits of insecticide residue and contaminants must be within the compliance range which must be ensured by food safety officers.

It has been also stated by the FSSAI that intermediaries who are helping small farmers to sale their final product will be permitted to sale the product without NPOP/PGS-India certificate. Organic food will be exempted from having Jaivik Bharat Logo. Retail companies involved in selling organic foods must adhere all regulatory requirements. Small producers can take this regulation as enabling regulations during early implementation phase till 01 April 2020.
