Combination therapy for aggressive brain tumor patients

A combination therapy including ADI-PEG20, pemetrexed and cisplatin was developed for the patients suffering from aggressive brain tumor. Phase I clinical trial of this combination displayed well tolerance in patients. It has been identified in pre-clinical study that ADI-PEG20 can support in increasing the efficiency of chemotherapies such as cisplatin and pemetrexed. Successin Phase 1 trial leads to the initiation of Phase II trial including more number of patients to evaluate the efficacy.

This clinical trial has been done with the efforts from two research centers along with Government and cancer charities. It is a significant step towards the development of biomarker-led approach to treat recurrent high-grade gliomas. Such successful researches can have the better future for the individuals who are diagnosed with distressing disorder and their families.
