Post Graduate Diploma in  Medical Lab Technology (Medical Lab Technician)

In the healthcare industry, not all jobs require you to deal with patients on a direct/ face-to-face basis. There are other opportunities as well that are very much in-demand and allow you to work behind the scenes. However, the good part is that these professions still have a positive impact on people’s health. And, Medical Laboratory Technology can offer you the same opportunities.

Medical Laboratory Technology is a branch of medical science responsible for performing laboratory investigations relating to diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease. With the developments in the imaging technology for various tissues consisting of different organ systems in human body such as X-rays, Ultra-sound, sonography, CT-scanning, MRI, PET-scanning, etc. there is a great demand for the imaging technologists. In this course, the students learn to perform tests that aid in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. This program also equips candidates with the knowledge and skills required to handle advanced lab equipments and perform accurate laboratory tests.

Eligibility

Any Indian or overseas applicants must fulfill following criteria for enrolling into the one year Medical Lab Technology program. The applicant must be a graduate in any life sciences or related discipline.

Programme Duration

Programme duration is 12 months.

Internship

3 months of practical training will be provided to the students so that they will have hands on experience with Medical Laboratory techniques. Thereby, the participants can have good practical knowledge beyond the classroom experience.

Registration

The registration dates for this bi-annual programme run by the institute are updated timely on the webpage. The Training sessions and webinars are scheduled preferably on weekends depending on the availability of visiting faculty. Effective E-learning tools incorporated into the design of the webpage make the course lectures, videos and study material easily accessible. This gives huge window of self-regulated and self-paced performance to the participants.

Programme Fee

A one-time annual programme fees (lump sum paid at beginning of the course) of Rs. 28,000/-, which can be paid in installments. This covers for the course registration fees, tuition fees, course material fees. Apart from this, every student has to pay an internship fee of Rs. 7,000/- and an examination fee of Rs 1200/-, as per the examination notification of the Institute. 10% of fee concession is applicable to applicants belonging to SC/ST, Physically Handicapped (PH), Ex-servicemen, Defence personnel & their progeny or those who belong to Economically Weaker Section (EWS)/ Below Poverty Line (BPL).

Examination & Certification

All the participants are obliged to appear for annual exam at the end of the course. After successful completion, the participants will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma in Medical Lab Technology (Medical Lab Technician). For all the above mentioned modules elaborate course material and project work details would be provided by the Institute from time to time. Details get updated on the webpage as well.

The robust placement cell comprises of senior level Human Resources professionals and Talent Acquisition experts which maintains close links with business and industry. Laboratory Technicians are skilled workers who work with complex systems, and perform highly technical mechanical or diagnostic tests to detect the presence or absence of certain microorganisms in a patient's sample. They collect samples, study and perform tests on body fluids, teeth, chemical compounds, and other biological specimens. Medical Lab Technician is in huge demand for biochemical laboratories.
